Hotaka Katahira is the Professor of Marketing Science at The University of Tokyo. Prior to this position, Mr. Katahira held several professor positions at Osaka University and The University of Tokyo from 1975-2004.
Hotaka is also currently the Chairman of both Marunouchi Asia Consortium. Since 2010, he has also served as the Editor in Chief for Marketing Horizon, a journal published for professional marketers by the Japan Marketing Association.
From 2011-2011, he served as the Chairman of "Brand Japan," the best known brand power survey project in Japan. From 2005-2011, Mr Katahira served as the President of the Japanese Institute of Marketing Science.
He has published several scholarly works, including Leveraging Japan, The Principles of Brand Power and Building Perpetuity in Business: Learning from "Zeami."
In 1970, Mr. Katahira earned his B.A. from the International Christian University, followed by his M.A. in Economics from the University of Tokyo in 1972.
